In the land of Aezevia, magic is what happens when users harness one of two energies through the mastered art of casting. Casters can wield either the light or dark energies by creating physical manifestations of them. The most common use is to channel those energies into a physical weapon, which helps them control their magic. Less common is to wield the magic raw; possible, but dangerous as it's harder to control. As a caster of light magic, Jas has the ability to wield light energy. Currently, he can manifest his magic into the following forms:• using his sword as a vessel for his light magic can allow him to do both magical and physical damage* (It should be noted that his magic is much stronger during daylight.)
• explosive projectiles: he can either (1) "charge" up an object with his light magic which would then combust in a few seconds, or (2) send off concentrated orbs of pure light magic to act as energy grenades.
Apart from his magic, Jas is also skilled with the sword and long-range weapons such as a bow and arrow. He has a sweet singing voice that he's very shy about, and can weave wonderful tapestries if he's feeling inclined.
Jas had lived a fairly sheltered life, despite (or perhaps because of) his position as the sole heir of Queen Dyanae. Because of the complications of his birth, he had grown up quite sickly for a time. Well into his teenage years, he was often confined to the safety of the castle, if not his own bed. It was not until he reached adulthood (some 30 years ago) that he had been able to get his physical condition well enough to merit a decrease in his mother's over-protectiveness. Because he'd spent more than half of his life so sick, he's grown to despise and resent his bedroom — particularly his bed. To Jas, it represents all his shortcomings and the disappointment he feels in himself for being what he views as an "inadequate" heir and Zeltai. As soon as he was able, he'd moved to a different room and got outside of the castle as much as he was able to. Secretly, one of the reasons he found himself looking forward to his betrothal was the opportunity to explore a new land and break out of his past confines.How strongly do they feel about the negative subject matter, on the scale of one to ten?:
A solid seven. Logically, Jas knows there's absolutely no reason to feel so strongly about an object, but his logic can only get him so far. That's the thing about Jas — he likes to consider himself a far more rational and sensible person than he actually is; in truth, he's driven far more by his emotions than he cares for. Frankly, the only reason he hadn't burned the bed down himself was because he didn't want to let his mother know just how much it affected him, lest it make her worry even more. Stiff upper lip, and all that.What is their greatest virtue?:
Above all else, Jas' resolve has never failed him. Some may call it stubbornness, but it was what got him as far as he is now. He's fully convinced that if it were not for his determination to beat his illness and to succeed in all aspects of princehood, he might still be an infirm relegated to spending the rest of his days in bed, useless to both his crown and kingdom. Usually, once Jas sets his mind on something — especially when it comes to improving himself — there's not a whole lot anyone can do to deter him from his goal.How aware are they of their virtue, on a scale from one to ten?:
Teeeeeeeeen. Jas isn't quite so cheesy enough to parrot around "mind over matter," but he's definitely aware that were it not for his resolve he never would have gotten to where he is today. More than that, he would be the first to tell anyone that it's one of his best traits. So even if someone might find it a stubbornness fit for a bull, Jas will only find pride in the fact that he can be so strong in at least this one thing.Items:

Jas often comes off as a very warm and friendly person, though it is important to note that this is intentional. Not to say that he isn't genuine, but he isn't inherently happy or positive, but instead quite lonely and quiet, and so his friendliness and outgoing behavior is more of a concentrated attempt than anything that actually comes naturally to him. When aware, he will put on a pleasant expression and make the effort to befriend others. He often goes against his instincts and make choices based on what he thinks the other party would prefer in order to better appeal to them. He is playful and tends to act very familiar in an attempt to bypass most people's guards and boundaries.
In contrast to the warm persona he works to emulate, Jas is more naturally inclined to be a bit aloof and even can sometimes even be pretty cold. He is much more bratty than he like to come off as, with a habit of being passive aggressive and petty when he feels slighted. Jas is ashamed of and convinced there is a darkness in him that is cruel and miserable, and he works hard to suppress and overcompensate for this. In truth, the loneliness he'd felt at his childhood has just made him more prone to negative thoughts and feelings but it doesn't make him inherently bad. More it just makes him inherently sad. He can be as delicate emotionally as he can be physically, and he doesn't often know what to do with all that vulnerability but feel frustrated about it.
He's something of a perfectionist, and tends to grow incredibly frustrated and impatient with himself whenever he struggles with something. He also hates to appear weak or vulnerable, and will often ignore or avoid an issue if he cannot make light of it. He's a hypocrite in this sense, because he will not hesitate to chide others for not reaching out for or accepting his help. But this is also due in part to his desire to be needed and seen as an equal.
